History
It was born in Havana, but the exact origin is debated. One version goes back to the 16th century and to El Draque, a drink associated with Francis Drake, and another tells of an improvised remedy made with cane spirit, lime, sugarcane juice and mint. Its reputation as Ernest Hemingway's drink at the Bodeguita del Medio is called into doubt by the writer's biographers.
