Method
In a shaker, muddle a thin slice of ginger and add the remaining ingredients. Shake vigorously with ice and strain into a chilled tiki mug filled with pebble ice.
Garnish
Citrus fruit and a slice of dehydrated pineapple.
History
It was created in 2022 by Cuban bartender Diosmel Mendoza Medrano at El Polinesio, the tiki bar of the Habana Libre hotel in Havana. The recipe honors the IBA's 69th World Cocktail Championship, held in Varadero in November 2022, the first after the COVID-19 pandemic pause. In March 2024 it became an official cocktail, the 101st in the IBA book.
