History
It is named after the actress Mary Pickford, a star of silent film, and is said to have been created for her in Havana in the 1920s, during a trip with Charlie Chaplin and Douglas Fairbanks. Credit for it is disputed between the bartenders Eddie Woelke and Fred Kaufmann, and the story is usually set at the Hotel Nacional de Cuba.
