History
Invented by Donn Beach in late 1934 at the Don the Beachcomber restaurant in Hollywood, and popularized on the East Coast from the 1939 New York World's Fair onward. Legend has it that it was made to help a hungover customer, who later complained of having spent his entire trip like a zombie. Beach kept the recipe in code and limited customers to two drinks each.
