History
The most often told version says that Dick Bradsell created it around 1983 at the Soho Brasserie in London, for a young model who asked for something that would wake her up. The coffee machine stood next to the drinks station, and vodka was the spirit in fashion. Bradsell never revealed who the customer was; the stories that name Naomi Campbell or Kate Moss do not hold up, since both were too young at the time.
